 Virgin type "Eleousa" called Tenderness. Famous Icon of the Comnenus dynasty (Byzantine Empire:1081-1185), this icon expresses the tenderness of the Mother of God pressing against her son. The icon is distinguished by the arm of the child around the neck of the mother. The face of the Virgin who is watching is full of warmth and human understanding, but also a deep sadness.
